Who We Are

Every member of our team — both human and canine — has undergone extensive training in lost dog behaviour, scent tracking, and search techniques. We understand the unique challenges of lost dog cases: frightened dogs in flight mode, confusing scent trails, and the heartbreak and worry that owners feel.

Our Mission
Bringing lost dogs home, with skill, teamwork, and care.
We’re a voluntary team of trained handlers and tracking dogs, dedicated to reuniting lost dogs with their families safely and swiftly; we offer our help completely free of charge.

How We Work
We use proven scent detection methods and experienced tracking dogs to follow each lost dog’s trail. We work alongside owners, ground search teams, and the local community to cover every possible lead and maximise the chance of a safe return. Our Commitment
We operate with compassion, professionalism, and respect for every dog and family we help. From collecting a clear scent item to searching day or night in all weathers, our volunteers give their time and expertise freely, driven by genuine care and dedication.

Our Team

Billy & Diane

Billy, our tracking star with a heart of gold.

Meet Billy, Diane's incredible five-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and one of the most dedicated (and definitely the most enthusiastic!) members of our lost dog tracking team. Billy is proof that you should never judge a dog by their breed: lots of people wouldn’t expect a Staffordshire Bull Terrier to excel at scent work, but Billy’s nose, unstoppable energy, and sheer determination surprise everyone who sees him in action. He’s full of beans, always ready to work, and once he’s on a trail, there’s no stopping him. Despite living with elbow dysplasia, Billy adapts brilliantly and his excitement to get out there and do the job always outpaces any challenges life throws his way. Billy’s remarkable nose has helped bring answers in searches where dogs would never have been found without him. He’s picked up faint trails and tracked into places no one would have thought to check, giving families the closure and peace of mind they so desperately need. His determination to follow every scent to the very end is just part of what makes him so special. Billy also works alongside wildlife rescues, helping locate injured wild animals and find dens when a fox’s mother has been killed or injured, so orphaned cubs can be found in time, rehabilitated, and safely released back into the wild where they belong. He’s clever, tireless, and the most experienced nose on our team. More than that, he’s Diane's best friend and her reminder every day of why we do what we do: for the ones who can’t ask for help themselves. Billy’s huge personality, phenomenal nose, and boundless enthusiasm make him a true credit to our team. He reminds us every time we head out that the dogs people overlook are often the ones that do the most amazing work — all they need is the chance to shine. Here is to Billy: bonkers, brilliant and absolutely one of a kind.

Copper & Helen

Copper, our small and mighty and always happy tracking star.
Meet Princess Copper. She is a little superstar whose personality is significantly bigger than her size. As a Cavapoo you would expect her to be a little fluffy thing, but alas not and we are still trying to find the poodle fur. However, the gorgeous girl loves nothing better than cuddling Helen (her owner) on her shoulders and sniffing . She has an amazing nose which has been put to great use recently looking for lost dogs as well as loving her agility and hoopers.

If you come across us please say hello as she has loads of licks to share. But be careful she is masterful at the art of extracting treats from anyone she meets!

Louie & Diane

Louie, our sensitive, systematic superstar.
Meet Louie, Diane’s incredible eight-year-old rescue dog and another truly irreplaceable member of our lost dog tracking team.

Louie’s story is one of real courage. As a tiny puppy, Louie was burned with acid, an awful start that could have shaped his whole life. Instead, Louie has defied every expectation. He’s not just survived, he’s found his purpose and become an exceptional tracking dog, showing everyone what patience, trust, and second chances can do. Louie is Billy’s housemate but couldn’t be more different. Where Billy is all boundless energy, Louie is sensitive and wonderfully methodical. He works a trail with quiet focus, carefully picking apart every scent clue. He doesn’t rush — he thinks — and that calm, systematic style has helped bring home more than a few missing dogs that others might have missed.

Louie has a funny quirk too: when he’s working, he often likes to carry a stone in his mouth as he tracks. No one’s quite sure why, but it keeps him steady and happy and it’s just another thing that makes him so uniquely Louie. Like Billy, Louie is also a skilled wildlife tracking dog, helping locate injured wildlife and find hidden dens for orphaned fox cubs, giving them a chance to be rescued, rehabilitated, and safely returned to the wild.

In everyday life, Louie can be reactive and sensitive, but out on the trail he transforms — fully focused, tuned in, and at his best. He proves time and again that the dogs the world once gave up on are often the ones with the greatest heart for the job. Here is to Louie, thoughtful, steady and an absolute sweetheart.

Pink & Julie

Pink (aka Her Royal Highness Princess Pink) is a 4-year-old Weimaraner with a nose for adventure and a heart set on tracking. She may look like a graceful gazelle, but don’t be fooled, she’s got the strength of a freight train, especially when we’re navigating downhill or on slippery terrain (spoiler: Julie her handler is usually the one doing the slipping). When she’s not dragging Julie through the wilderness in pursuit of a scent, Pink dabbles in hoopers and fully believes she’s an influencer. She even has her own Instagram—because obviously, the world needs more pictures of her eating and exploring. @pink.theweim - she demands an audience

River & Sarah

River is a fun-loving Working Cocker Spaniel whose world comes alive the moment she picks up a scent. On live searches, she’s all business—nose to the ground, super-focused. River doesn’t care what terrain we cover, scrambling over felled woodland, jumping big ditches, and through undergrowth, just stopping long enough to throw herself in the nearest bit of water. She just expects my buddy and I to keep up and follow. At home? That’s when her cheeky side comes out. She’s the one who, when it suddenly goes quiet, makes you wonder, “What’s River up to now?”. She also LOVES agility and canicross — flying over jumps and racing across the Surrey hills, she’s a pocket rocket. She’s a true working dog who is also a softie and gives great cuddles.

Molly & Helen

Molly (aka, Molly Moo Moo).

Molly is a 5yr old Working Sheepdog. She exploded into Helen's life at 7months old, as a whirlwind of energy. Just mooching around being a dog is not really her thing. Essentially she wants to be working with her Mum or asleep and there is not much in between. Molly has more hobbies than most kids. She loves Agility, Hoopers, Scent work, Mantrailing, Obedience, Trick training. Basically, anything that uses her brain and body. With her natural drive to work and her good tracking skills, it was a no-brainer to join the Lost Dog Tracking team. She has loved advancing her skills and teaching the humans ever more about how scent behaves. Outside of "work" she is a massive cuddle bug who loves cuddling up on the sofa with her people. However, she has very distinct opinions about the music that they get to play while chilling out together.
